Abstract
Augmented Reality (AR) is booming on mobile with ARCore / ARKit and new tools are emerging for building awesome experiences.
This talk will introduce you to fundamental concepts of AR before diving into ARCore and see how to use it to build a simple AR app on Android.
After looking at the basics, we will focus on what ARCore can offer us to build advanced AR apps with the following tools:
  • Augmented Images: bring 2D images or markers to life.
  • Cloud Anchors: create a multiplayer AR app where both Android and iOS users can collaborate. The users will be able to interact with a 3D object simultaneously.
  • Sceneform: a 3D framework that let you build advanced AR app without all OpenGL boilerplate. Use OBJ, FBX, or glTF 3D assets to render your 3D models and bring your Android UI components in AR.

Live demo will be shown during the talk and after to highlight all the capabilities of ARCore on Android.
